THE BASIC CATEGORY TYPES OF SKIN:
At some stage in your life your skin could be all the basic skin types I have listed below but choose the one you feel best matches your skin type now.

NORMAL SKIN - Can sometimes have a few breakouts. Skin is usually not oily or dry.

DRY SKIN - Year round dryness that may cause rough patches and flakes. Skin is never oily and moisturizers seem to soak into skin without helping much. Skin may be sensitive with few breakouts.

COMBINATION SKIN - Usually oily in some areas while dry in others. Prone to breakouts and warm weather makes oily places more oily while dry areas may still need light moisture.

OILY SKIN - Usually whole face is oily and never has that dry feeling. Prone to breakouts your skin could have a dull look

ROSACEA OR SENSITIVE SKIN - May be prone to breakouts. Has constant irritation, dryness, redness, and flaky-ness. May have few small oily areas also.

ACNE SKIN - Acne is defined as a chronic inflammation disorder of the skin, usually related to changes in overactive sebaceous glands as hormones change generally starting at the onset of puberty. Acne is genetic, effecting both men and women and comes in different severities. You can figure out the grade and severity of your acne by reading the descriptions below or you can have a dermatologist determine it.

  • Grade 1 Acne: Consists of whiteheads and blackheads.
  • Grade 2 Acne: Is hard to determine and treat, the face is covered in whiteheads and from a distance appears to be clear but close up skin texture is rough.
  • Grade 3 Acne: A mixture of whiteheads and blackheads along with irritated lesions. Some individuals may have a dozen or less on each side of their face.
  • Grade 4 Acne: Is considered cystic acne. Has symptoms of Grade 1, 2, and 3 acne but will respond to treatment faster.
