Benzoyl Peroxide (BP) Treatment Schedule

Benzoyl Peroxide treatments can be used for breakouts, oily areas, blackheads but you don’t have to have blemishes to use it. By looking over this page you will be able to customize a BP treatment timetable for your skin. This treatment schedule consists of seven and one-half levels. As your skin becomes acclimated to the Benzoyl Peroxide you may move through the levels until you find the one that ultimately keeps your skin clear. How fast you move through the levels, and how high a level you ultimately reach will depend on your skin type, grade of acne, age, and sex. Read over the chart below to find a starting level then customize your timetable. Remember, those with Dry, Sensitive, or Rosacea skin may start on and progress quickly to the higher levels.

Please remember there is no quick fix when treating blemishes. They take ninety+ days to form, and your treatment has to be continuous. Acne never takes a vacation, it’s at work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.

General Rules for Successful Treatment

  1. Always wait 3 to 4 days before progressing to a higher level. Wait to see any results before jumping higher.
  2. If you have Sensitive, Dry, Mature, or Rosacea skin you will want to buffer first with Sealant Cream before applying Benzoyl Peroxide so as not to cause irritation and redness.
  3. If you have been using a BP product regularly you may start at a higher level.
  4. Do not wear Benzoyl Peroxide while exercising and wait at least one hour until your face has calmed down from exercising before an application.
  5. BP treatment must be done for 90+ days to clear us blemishes.
  6. Do NOT wear Benzoyl Peroxide outdoors or underneath your make-up. BP makes your skin photosensitive and if worn in the sun may cause you to develop a rash or irritation. If irritation should occur, discontinue use of Benzoyl Peroxide for 3 to 4 days. Apply Sealant Cream continuously and ice your face 3 to 4 times a day until irritation subsides. Also, immediately discontinue any applications of Glycolic Acids or Cleansing Beads. Use only Facial Wash along with moisturizer and SPF.
  7. If BP applications are done during the day STAY indoors. I do really recommend most treatments be done in your P.M. routine unless treating more than once daily.
  8. When applying BP keep away from your orbital bone, eye sockets, and around your nose membrane.
  9. Make sure Benzoyl Peroxide is dry before going to bed . Wear old night wear and use an old pillow case since BP can bleach fabric if not completely dry. Change pillow cases every other day to keep free of irritation.
  10. Last and most importantly, wear your SPF daily to protect your healed lesions for discoloration.
